RE-UPLOAD: Diamanda Galas - XXVII International Poetry Festival, Barcelona, Spain - 16.05.2011 (DVD)

Thanks to arranzio for sharing his recording and to cEnda for sending me the links.

This is a DVD (PAL) version of my HD recording seeded previously. The DVD has been encoded from the original MTS files.

Open air, wonderful early gothic architecture, the best scenery for the type of performance you should expect from Diamanda Galas, she, the piano, and an eclectic audience.
This is an audience recording, with handheld still camera so, expect some bad framings, strange movements, etc.

line-up:
Diamanda Galás - voice, piano (Steinway & Sons) (one chord misstuned-loose, on purpose?)

The audio quality is limited by the built-in still stereo camera mics, but it's overall A (piano) and B+ (voice, well, how to "catch" Diamanda's, and there was wall reverb too).
PLAY IT LOUD!

Set list (chapters) (updates are welcome, I hope I made no mistakes, hard work done here) (most of the tracks start with Diamanda making comments about the previous song)

1. Anoixe Petra (lyrics by Lefteris Papadopoulos) + Tengo que Subir al Puerto (spanish traditional)
2. You Don't Know What Love Is (lyrics by Don Raye) + Amsterdam (lyrics by Jacques Brel)
3. Missing Dates (lyrics by William Empson) + In Despair (lyrics by Constantine Cavafy)
4. All's Gone (lyrics by Harold Pinter, from the movie The Servant) + La Sierra de Armenia (traditional spanish flamenco, famous because of Pastora Pavon, "La Nina de los Peines"))
5. Die Stunde Kommt (lyrics by Ferdinand Freiligrath, austrian poet, favorite from Marlene Dietrich) + Amours Perdues (lyrics by Joseph Kosma, Georges Neveux)
6. The Thrill Is Gone (lyrics by Roy Hawkins and Rick Darnell) + Heaven Have Mercy (lyrics by Phillippe Gerard and Jacques Larue)
7. Encore - Fernand (lyrics by Jacques Brel)
8. Encore 2 - Gloomy Sunday

Funny speech between Song 11 and 12 (middle of track 6), about journalists saying her she's gothic ("conyosos" great invented spanish word) and an unexpected or just casual joke saying "porque porque porque", a famous 2011 spanish soccer sentence from coach Jose Mourinho, was it casual or intentional? That's why the woman next to me laughs so loud. I think it's been unintentional. (let me say that this sentence was used by that coach to complain why his team, Real Madrid, was losing every important match, blaming referees and federations alike, but not his fault, of course).
My camera has a 30 minutes limit for continuous recording and, in consequence, I stopped recording several times, ending up with 8 tracks, one per chapter in this DVD.

RE-UPLOAD: Discharge - Victoria Hall, Hanley, Stoke, UK - 11.03.1983 (DVD)

Thanks to Bandit999 for sharing this one and to Š†©kmªÑ for the links.

Original Info File:

Alright here's aa true punk rock rarity, Discharge omplete and in coulour from 1983. Now i had so many versions of this show over the years and all were B+W and grainy as well as being highly generated, eventually i came across the 2 versions i used to make this DVD. They were on the end of a 4 hour tape after a Conflict show and when i played them on my SVHS player they retained a very watchable colour, now the front camera footage has all 20 tracks unlike the other versions i have seen, omly Decontrol
is miising the end so i added a40 seconds from a a B+W copy which had 20 seconds of silence right where the join had to be made so i cut the silence out and it works fine.

Now the on stage camera footage i had bever seen but it was on the same tape but only 8 tracks in colour so i added them as a bonus, i have an almost complete version of the on stage footage but its in B+W missing tracks 1 & 11, also 2 tracks have there starts cut so i decided to not bother with that version, anyway the 8 bonus tracks give you a flavour of how good this show could be if "Cal" would allow it to be released...
I asked actually asked him about it on the 1994 tour and he said he didn't like the sound so he didn't want it released, the rest of the band did but without his agreement there was nothing they could do... "WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY BUT WHY.."

Anyway i put a lot of work into this and its definetly came out really good so turn it up fucking loud and remember..."Theres no real music and i'm just shouting and screaming..."

Another excellent addition to everyones ever growing Punk Rock DVD library...

Fully authored and ready to burn as usual enjoy, your friend Bandit999

Time Off!

RE-UPLOAD: The Sisterhood / The Sisters of Mercy - This Corrosion Demos (MP3)

The "This Corrosion" Demos are probably the hardest stuff to find from the Sisters related material. They're not on the Floodland demos, because they were demoed as the (never released) The Sisterhood second single. A tape was "found" containing 6 versions of the song with vocals by almost all the Sisterhood members and Andrew Eldritch. They've been appearing (mainly in YouTube), but never all of them, and mostly the ones that feature Andrew on vocals. These are the one's I could collect and I cannot really say much about them since I don't have enough information about sources. Not really sure if they are all by the Sisterhood or some are actually by the Sisters of Mercy. The sound is very rough and lacks all the pomp of the final song. The Mp3 with the James Ray vocals is broken, so it marks 7.26m but actually only runs until 4.30m, but you can listen to it without other problems.

1. This Corrosion (Demo - Andrew Eldritch and James Ray vocals) - 4.30m
2. This Corrosion (Demo - Andrew Eldritch vocals) - 8.50m
3. This Corrosion (Demo - Andrew Eldritch vocals) - 6.28m
4. This Corrosion (Demo - Andrew Eldritch vocals) - 9.59m

information:

I taped the Hamburg and Dresden show from the 2012 FOTN German / UK Tour. I wanted to do all German slots but failed to monetary issues.
The gig in Hamburg went fine, Markthalle completely full of people when they started.
First i heard them with their new guitarist Andy James from Sacred Mother Tongue, which played well. Straigth to the Light started a bit missplayed and Carls voice was a bit wrong tune on the chorus.
They unveiled after ages "Vet For The Insane" again which went out fine and was only played at the German gigs.
They added One More Nightmare again + full lyrics - live more enjoyable then the usual version.
What they played sounded like added with the Trees Come Down AD version from the From the Fire ÉP Disc.
Encore break cut a bit out to fit it on a 80 minutes CD. no music harmed.

For the sound live with my ears the Hamburg gig was better then Dresden, but for the recording it was vice versa. A bit distant because the venue seems a bit problematic like the Felsenkeller in Leipzig so i choose stack taping next time when i am there. Taped from stack in Dresden which turned out more powerful.

The Stranglers - Sam's, Minneapolis, USA - 20.05.1981 (Flac)

Soundboard master. Thanks to Shadow23 for sharing this one on Dime.

Original Info File:

This is a rare master recording unearthed a couple of years ago which has thus far only been circulated on a very limited level. To celebrate The Stranglers' 40 years in the biz (on tour now) I thought it was time it got a bit more exposure.

The person who kindly allowed me to rip this cannot remember who gave it to them...

This is The Stranglers at their peak. Playing material from The Raven, and The Gospel According To The Meninblack LP they were promoting, the music is interspersed with Hugh Cornwell’s acid wit. Hugh is on top form throughout, riffing after almost every song.

The cassette is a TDK AD90 and the inlay card has notes that read:
“Desk: PM1000 out of subs into active combining network mixed by Kevin Hortmann”

I have ripped this tape clean to digital with no processing at all.

It's a stunning document of a band several decades ahead of their time...

Enjoy!!!

Original Uploader's Info:

Here's an interesting collection of tracks. The first two are unreleased performances of "I Hear Ya Got Religion," recorded in 1969, and the third snippet is from those same sessions. Fans of this song will enjoy hearing these extended jams. The Residents having a jam session?? Who would've guessed! Wild saxaphone solos abound.

Tracks 4 through 15 were recorded live in the studio, 1980, as rehearsals for a tour which never happened. Various takes from those rehearsals were released on the album "Assorted Secrets," but all the takes offered here are UNRELEASED. None of these particular performances have been issued, they are all unique versions, many with different arrangements and instruments. Fans will also be delighted to note several songs which never made it to "Assorted Secrets" in any form, such as "The Talk Of Creatures," "Love Leaks Out," and "Walter Westinghouse".

Tracks 16-19 seem to be demos from the "Title In Limbo" collaboration with Renaldo & The Loaf. An early version of "Woman's Weapon" and a very different version of "Monkey And Bunny," as well as two instrumental tracks which, as far as I can tell, have never seen the light of day in any form.

I received this on a CD, and it has obviously been mastered from a somewhat noisy cassette dub. The CD itself had two-second pauses at the end of each track (grrrrr), which I haven't removed because I'm lazy (sorry). Fans of the "Assorted Secrets" rehearsals will love these additional performances to augment their collection, and the recordings even feature false starts, studio banter, and little improvisations which paint a more intimate picture of the Residents in the studio.

Finally, I have designed CD artwork, a cover and traycard, for you to print out and assemble when you add this to your collection.

Enjoy!!!
